Chapter 14

Abrielle

I paced the entirety of my room until my door opened, and Chad walked in. I ran over, peppering him with questions. He was furious, and I knew me asking questions wasn’t going to help the situation at all, but I had to know. Once the door was shut and locked behind him, he turned towards me and I took a step back out of fear. That was how much anger was seething off of him.

“You didn’t hurt him, did you?” It came out as barely a whisper.

He laughed angrily. “No. I didn’t hurt him. Did I want to?” He began stalking towards me. “Oh yeah, I wanted to.” I bit the inside of my cheek as he stopped in front of me. “Do you know that he loves you?” I shook my head. He loved me? I had thought that he did. Even asked him if he did, but he swore he didn’t. So why did he admit that he did to Chad? Or was Chad lying to see how I would react? “Well he does. Tanner loves you and will do anything to find you.”

I lowered my gaze and shrugged. “Not like that matters. They think I’m dead.” It wasn’t like Tanner and Cordelia were going to be looking for a dead girl. If anything, I hoped that they would have a really nice memorial service for me and kept my name alive somehow. For my part, I was going to move on with my life. Maybe Chad would get tired of me and throw me out. I shook my head at the thought because as much as I wished that would happen, I knew it wouldn’t.

Chad closed the distance between us and pinned me against the wall. “Here’s the thing Abrielle, there’s hope now because the blood on the ground wasn’t yours.” I felt hope surge in my heart and it must have shown on my face, because he growled. “I hate to break it to you princess, but that hope you feel is misguided.” I closed my eyes to try and stop the tears that threatened to spill out. “Look at me when I’m talking to you.” My eyes sprang open and I muttered an apology. “Who do you belong to?”

I swallowed and answered him before he got any angrier than he already was. “You.”

Chad cracked his neck. “You can do better than that. Who do you belong to?”

Tired of his stupid macho games, I ducked under his arms and went to the other side of the room. “We’ve been over this at least a hundred times. I’m yours Chad. I can’t possibly be anyone else’s. Not when I’m locked up in here.”

He stalked toward me like I was his prey and again pinned me against the wall. “Who do you belong to Abrielle?” He asked through gritted teeth.

“You’re hurting me.”

Chad loosened his grip a bit and I took that as a chance to get away from him again. I tried to slip under his arms again, but he was ready and grabbed my forearm, pulling me to his body.
